CLIMATE CHANGE & SEA-LEVEL RISE

As Miami-Dade Mayor, Commissioner Monestime will fully embrace the challenge of finding solutions to reverse the impact of climate change and sea-level rise in South Florida.  From committing to the complete “decarbonization” of Miami-Dade’s operations and infrastructure by 2035 to sparking innovation and collaboration with local universities, and private business and major industry leaders, in transforming South Florida into the “Silicon Valley” of green technology – Jean Monestime is ready to lead in protecting our environment.

A MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FOR ALL!

Miami-Dade is one of the most socially and culturally diverse counties in the nation.  Being a mecca of diversity, however, does come with some challenges.  As your next mayor, Commissioner Monestime will ensure that Miami-Dade continues its strong and enduring tradition of inclusiveness, equality, and acceptance for all our current residents and anyone who wishes to call Miami-Dade County their home.

LET'S STAY CONNECTED!

ECONOMIC GROWTH AND JOBS

As a longtime small business owner, Commissioner Monestime understands what it takes to create jobs, meet a payroll, and expand businesses to foster overall economic growth. He's also an advocate for workers' rights.  As mayor, Commissioner Monestime will draw from his experience in the business world and propose initiatives that will make the opening of new small businesses easier and faster.  At the same time, he will focus on attracting new, small and large enterprises to relocate to strategic areas of Miami-Dade, providing new, high-quality jobs.

GOOD GOVERNMENT

Commissioner Monestime strongly believes in a county government that lives within its means and ensures that every proposed public expenditure is easily accessible, clear to understand, and can be easily disputed by any resident before a single dollar is appropriated.

ON THE ISSUES

TRANSPORTATION

The ever-increasing traffic gridlock has fully gripped Miami-Dade County to a standstill, causing our residents valuable time, money, and stress.   There is simply no excuse for the current state of our transportation system, particularly after having a voter-approved revenue source dedicated exclusively to addressing our transportation needs.  We need a mayor who has the political will to implement a modern, cost-effective, and reliable transportation system that the people need and want for a better Miami-Dade County.

AFFORDABILITY

The lack of affordable housing in Miami-Dade is a crisis that knows no ethnic boundaries. Commissioner Monestime understands that a growing majority of our residents struggle because of the high costs of housing in our community and believes that hard-working families are being “priced-out” and “forced-out” of their homes, their communities, and out of the County they call home.   As Miami- Dade County’s next Mayor, he will take bold steps and decisive action to bring an end to this grave instability facing our community.
